9 Halloween Gifts for Your Favorite Trick or Treaters

Halloween is a fun holiday celebrated on the night of October 31st. Children will dress in their favorite costumes and go trick-or-treating for candies.  These activities can be traced back to the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain, which was a celebration of the end of the harvest season.  The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31st, the boundary between the alive and the dead disappeared, and the dead became dangerous to the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops.  Costumes and masks were worn at the festival to mimic the evil spirits to placate them.  Because of the origin of this holiday, traditional characters for Halloween celebratons include ghosts, witches, vampires, bats, black cats, goblins, skeletons, and pumpkin-man. Halloween gifts often include one of these characters. This article provides some gift ideas for your trick or treaters.

What alcohol to brush my cake with?

I’m making my friend a dark chocolate cake, most likely with chocolate frosting for her birthday. Since it’s her 21st I thought it would be fun to brush the cake layers with alcohol. I know that rum is commonly used in such a manner, so would an alcohol like Bacardi Gold work? Should I use a coffee liquer instead? I’m just worried about something like Kalhua making it too sweet. Should I use Grand Marnier? What do you think would taste/work the best?
What about like amaretto di saronno? that’s an almond liquer, but I’ve never had it. Would that be too sweet?
